What we stand for

Women Mobilize Women (WMW) is the leading global initiative on women in transport and mobility and seeks to actively transform the sector to become more diverse and inclusive.

WMW works to empower everyone’s right to the city through public advocacy and capacity building, strong regional networks and the empowerment of local organizations and initiatives on the ground.

Driven by strong leadership

WMW is guided by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) Feminist Development Policy for just and strong societies. By embracing a feminist perspective, WMW challenges the patriarchal status-quo and envisions cities that cater to the diverse needs and experiences of every individual – irrespective of gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, skin colour, disability or other characteristics. WMW is funded by BMZ and is implemented by GIZ’s Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI).

Our four pillars of work

Public Outreach & Advocacy

We amplify women’s voices and promote gender equity in transportation and mobility through dynamic online platforms and active community engagement.

Global networks & empowerment

We create communities and networks focused on women’s empowerment in the mobility sector by fostering connections and collaborative opportunities worldwide.

Knowledge creation & training

We bridge the gender data gap and enhance understanding in transportation through comprehensive research, educational resources, and practical training.

Piloting Innovative Methods

We provide targeted support to local and regional initiatives, empowering communities to develop gender-responsive urban mobility solutions. We jointly develop policies to set the precedent for feminist transport in practice.
